I just came back from a week long Raya holiday (better known as Eid in the West - marking the victory of Moslems fasting for the whole month of Ramadan)..

Anyway, being on a festive season means that we have to go meet relatives etc etc.. From my hubby side's.. the number of children from his sibling's side - Abang Long (5 girls.. just had another one a few days ago).. Kak Long (2 boys)... Me (1 boy) .. and Alang, who is married a week later than me (a boy and a girl)..

Hmm.. talk about being pressured.. all seems to be asking when we will be having another baby.. hmm.. wonder how it would be worse if we haven't got Kimi...

Hmm.. when I start to think again.. thank god I already had a son - he is a gift from god already.. better than those who tried for many years before they got any.. In this case, I should have just ignore these remarks, well.. my body is mine, and god knows when I will have another baby.. better late than never.. hmmm...

p/s.. now I am down to 73kg.. another 10 kg to ideal weight!

Hmmm... Nope....

I am dissapointed... the answer is nope. Hmmm... I am trying this new remedy called Bidadari, a Malaysian tonic supposedly to help women conceived. As next week is Hari Raya (Eid).. I have a whole week off. Maybe, I'll start getting that remedy next week..

..... hmmm according to the AIS calender, I got two more days before I know I'm preggies or not.. hmmm.. the suspense, the suspense....

Horoscope

I really like my horoscope for today by The Star newspaper "The stars today fovour love and romance. These stars can bring news of a birth or maybe a pregnancy"

... Hmm.. hubby is here tonite so... well... the session must be on tonigt!!!! ha ha..

Coincidently, my AIS calculator states that this week should I conceived it would be a GIRL!!!! Fingers crossed!

Updates... Part II

Kimi First Days @ Home.

Still not yet.. Hmm I wonder how some parents need to wait many years til they get their first child. In that case, I am ok in the sense I already have my boy Kimi..

Hmm.. In this case, I feel pressurised maybe cz my husband is really keen and his keen-ness made me a bit stressed.

And one of the main reason of not conceiving is also stress. Yikes! Have to tell him to cool down then.

However, I am a bit preplexed, my last period was about 13 August then I had my next period about 28 August - that's only about 2++ weeks apart. Hmmm... I did feel that my period came a bit early this month.

On a happier note, I'm down to 78 kg now. So.. If I lose a bit more, maybe baby can be on the way? Hmmm..

News on the three girls aka Kimi's cousin.. seems like their fourth sibling would be a girl as well. I'm waiting for the delivery, sometime within this months, maybe the scan is wrong and a boy will emerge?!!

Updates..

Hmmm... not yet! I wonder if that is because of my weight. I am 83kg currently, with my height of around 163 cm i.e. 5'3", my ideal bmi max would be 63kg - that's 20kg yikes....

So, I'm going on a diet, a healthy diet with supplements for having babies... hmm we'll see...

I love this picture of Kimi and his two cousins. The girls (with another one) are expecting another addition to the family? Maybe a boy after the three girls, well... as long as the baby is fine, all is ok.

The Pill and Pregnancy

Plagued with the fact that I am not pregnant of my first try, I surfed the web seeking correllation between ditching the pill and becoming pregnant..

There is no reason to worry about becoming pregnant after you stop taking the pill. The pill will in no way affect your fertility and more than 90% of pill-users become pregnant within a year of coming off the pill. Hmmm... so it is my first month - no pressure yet esp. when the said that the first two months are for getting your body in tune again. Folic Acid checked. Well, will try again next month.

1st Month Result

Well.. I am not pregnant. Starts my red flag days today.

I am not surprised cz I've been without the pill for only a month. My friend told me she only got pregnant after two years. Another friend got pregnant after two months. She told me of her another friend who get pregnant almost immediately after she stopped taking the pil.

Well.. I've been taking the pill for almost three years. I hope I am part of the lucky ones who have no problem conceiving after taking the pill for quite some time. Fingers crossed!

My AIS Calender Calculation

Yesterday I went and upload myself the AIS application. A bit ancient cz it uses the excel file. I was confused in the beginning.

The first step of using this application is pinpointing the first date of your last menstruation, mine happened to be 11th. Highlight the number on the calender before clicking the legend "1st day on menstruation". The software will the calculate expected fertility date, safe days and days for conceiving boy or girl.

As I prefer a girl, my safe day bet in June would be 21 - 26th.

Thyroid and pregnancy..

Hmmm.. can't say how much I missed putting in more info on my blog but haven't got enough time to do research... Been busy with shifting to new office, arranging courtesy calls to people in line of business..

I will start trying to conceive by this week (after my period ends).. I have to say that I am a bit worried. I am hypotyroid - due to having total thyroidectomy for suspected thyroid cancer about two years ago. From my baby planning website, I read comments that people with low thyroid horman are having more difficulty in conceiving, more prone to miscarriage and the probability of the child having problem with their thyroid as well. Some however says that they have no such problems.

I hope I have none with mine, keep the fingers crossed!

Busy Weeks...

I haven't been posting for quite a while. Been busy with shifting to the new office early this month before moving to our new branch office in Kuala Terengganu.

May is going at a very fast rate. It seems just like yesterday when Labour Day was celebrated. Then with the course I have to attend, leave when I had to go and search for my new house and other courses related to going to open up an office branch, it seems I only have a week to do as much as I could before leaving my HQ.

Hope that when I am in Terengganu I will have more time in researching up methods for determining baby gender. Need to start to take up more of the folic acid obviously as I will try my best to conceive in June (well, the Chinese Gender Prediction Calender said I'll get a girl starting June till Sept I think).

I hope it is right.

When I went for the Stress Management last two week, one of the presenter, who is an alternative medicine man told us that babies spend their first four weeks as female before some change into male (maybe due to the chromosome XY) so... I hope to do a bit of search on that!

Draino / Drano Baby Gender Prediction Method

Caution! The fumes produced are toxic and the results are unreliable therefore it it NOT ADVISABLE to try this method. Mom would get serious reaction should the fumes are inhaled or mixture touch the skin. Colour intrepretation may also vary to personal observation and therefore unreliable.

It should be done after 4 months of pregnancy. Test to be performed outdoor. The size of Jar/Glass should be at least twice amount of urine as the result produces bubbling, smelly and caustic chemical reaction when the urine is added to the crystal drano.

The Draino Baby Prediction Test.
- Approx. 2 tablespoon of crystal drano
- Medium glass or jar preferably to throw away after the test
- 2 - 3 ounces of preferably first morning urine

Do this all outside the house: Put the crystal drano into the jar. Add urine. Get away from the jar as there'll be rapid chemical reaction with bubbling and toxic fumes.

When the chemical reaction stops, observe the colour of the mixture.

Baby Boy - Mixture darken to brownish colour within the first 10 seconds
Baby Girl - No colour change or darkening after 10 - 15 seconds

Old Wives' Tale Baby Gender Prediction

Loads of old wife's tale on getting a baby boy or a baby girl.

For Baby Boy:
- mom's right breast is bigger than the left breast during pregnancy
- Have the mother-to-be pick up a a single key. If she picks it up by the round part it will be a boy.
- With subsequent babies, the sex is determined by the previous child's first word. If s/he says dada first it will be a boy.
- The Mayans determined the sex of the baby by taking the mother's age at conception, and the year of conception. If one is even and one odd it's a boy.
- Salty diet - must try at least 3 months before conception
- Men should be more aggresive at the time of conception
- At pregnancy, women are happy and smilling, barely sick and never moody.
- From the back, the women doesn't look pregnant, and is carried low.
- Urinate in drain-o, if the mixture turns blue, it's boy
- Mother is clumsy
- Low heartbeat
- Toddler boy ignores a pregnant woman - the baby is a boy
- Mother prefers resting on the left side
- If asked to show her hands, the mothers shows it palm down

For Baby Girl:
- the mom's left breast is bigger than the right breast during pregnancy
- pull down the skin under your left eye and look at your eyeball (the white part). If you see a vein that looks like a V or branches, you will be having a girl.
- Have the mother-to-be pick up a a single key. If she picks up the long narrow part it will be a girl.
- With subsequent babies, the sex is determined by the previous child's first word. If s/he says mama first, it will be a girl.
- The Mayans determined the sex of the baby by taking the mother's age at conception, and the year of conception. If both are even or both are odd...it's a girl.
- Sweet diet at least 3 months before conception
- Put a wooden spoon and a pair of scissors under the bed and a pink bow under the pillow.
- Women more agressive at the time of conception
- At pregnancy, women are doubly crabby (as girls are crabby), so moody and sick most of the time.
- With a girl, the pregnancy will be shown all over. Girls are carried high.
- Acne break out at face and chest area due to larger hormones
- Urinate in drain-o, if it turns green, the baby is a girl
- Mother is graceful
- High heartbeat
- Toddler boy shows interest to a pregnant women - the baby inside is a girl
- Mothers prefer resting on the rights side
- If asked to show her hands, mothers shows it palms up

Billings Ovulation Method

The Billing Ovulation Method (BOM) is based on the symptom of fertility and infertility using cervical mucus.

BOM's benefit includes:

- avoidance of chemical contraceptives and its disadvantages

- means of natural fertility minitoring without any rythm counting, temparature taking, drugs or devices

- applicable from puberty to menopause, breastfeeding period, pre-manapausal period.

- can be used to avoid or achieve pregnancy with or without regular cycle.

BOM provides spreadsheet with legends for monitoring of cervical mucus to determine ovulution period.

Ovulation - Cervical Mucus Chart

The Cervical Mucus Chart is one method of pinpointing the ovulation day.

The cervical mucus changes in consistency, colour and smell in different stage of the cycle and therefoe, daily assessment of the mucus is encouraged.

Result is to be recorded ina calender using words such as sticky, gluey, egg-whitey, elastic, clear, brown, yellow. There are even International Charting Symbol for reference.

The Easiest Ways to Conceive

Pregnancy usually occurs when the egg is fertilised within 24 hour from its release from the ovary. Therefore, to get a baby is to get sperm meeting with the egg ideally 12 - 24 hours after ovulation.

Ovulation happers around 14 days before menstruation (for 28 days long menstrual cycle), i.e 14 days after the first day of your previous period. (For 32-day cycle, the ovulation is probably at the 18th days of the cycle).

Studies has shown that couples trying to get pregnant coinceived within 4 months of trying. By 6th months (75%), by a year (85%) and by 2 years (93%).

To improve chance for conceiving:
- Quit smoking cigarettes or marijuana
- Avoid K-Y jelly or other commercial lubricants that may cointain spermicide, use olive oil or veggie oil instead
- Monitor ovulation time

To pinpoint ovulation time:
- Keeping tract of body temparature which will rise close to the time of ovulation (might be handy to invest in "basal body temparature" termometer
- Monitor LH surge measured by LH in urine by using home ovulation predictor kit - positive result will show when ovulation occurs however it is a more expansive methic (at $20 - $30 per kit)
- New method using saliva to test for ovulation based on amount of increased estrogen levels during ovulation (pricier at $60 but can be used up to a year period)

Wedding Ring Baby Gender Prediction

A really simple method.

Tie a wedding ring to a thread or a strand of hair. Mom's to be need to lie down while the dangling item is place over the belly area.

For Baby Boy: The ring will move to and fro like a pendulum.

For Baby Girl: The ring will swings in a strong circular motion.

The ring can be substituted with a needle or a pin. Instead of the belly, the dangling item can also be placed over the mom's wrist.

Diet for Baby Gender

A new study of over 700 women conducted in Britain in 2008, led by the University of Exeter and University of Oxford shows that Mom's diet may influence baby gender:

For Baby Boy:
- eat breakfast cereal
- eat more total calories around the time of conception
- diet consisting of higher quality diets with wider range of nutrients, including potassium (think bananas, apricots, dried fruit and meat), calcium, vitamins C, E and B12
- Eating around 2,200 calories a day were 1.5 times more likely to have a boy

For Baby Girl:
- skipped breakfast
- eat less calories

- consume magnisium-rich diet (spinach, black beans, nuts and soy beans)

However, these are no reasons for girl yearning mommies to forgo breakfast.

The American Dietetic Association spokeswoman and registered dietitian Elisa Zied said that breakfast foods, especially breakfast cereals, are among the best dietary sources of folic acid , a nutrient that is critical during conception and early pregnancy for preventing birth defects.

Tea Time At Cameron Highland

Sipping newly brewed Cameron Valley tea at one of their shops. Behind Kimi is the tea plantation. Cute idea.

Very relaxing holiday and a satisfying one. Bought a whole load of fresh veggies at unbelievable cheap price (17 packages at RM10 i.e. USD 3+), 3 bouquets of roses at about 15 roses each therefore around 45 - 50 roses (also at RM10) and plants - camellias, mosquito repellent plant, sunflower (I love sunflowers) and lillies at about RM5 -6 (USD1++).

The Moon Baby Gender Method

Hmm.. Ladies do have mood swings depending on moon phrases so there might be something in this theory.

The theory stated that different sperms have different ions. There are negative ions during full moon and positive ions during new moon. So, to simplify:-

Girls during new moon phrase.
Boys during full moon phase.

The Whelan Method for Baby Gender

Developed by Elizabeth Whelan, Sc. D., this method is an all-natural method in which is safe and free. All mothers have to do is monitoring body temperature and watching the dates. For accuracy of ovulation time, ovulation kits are readily available.

To Get Baby Boy:
Make love 4 - 6 days before mothers' basal temparature goes up.

To Get Baby Girl:
Make love 2 - 3 days before ovulation.

The Whelan Method accuracy for baby gender selection is 68% (for boy babies) and 57% (for girl babies)

Chinese Lunar Calender Baby Prediction

This is a more analytical prediction by using the Chinese Lunar Calender. The first step is to calculate the mother's age to her Chinese Lunar age before predicting the optimal dates for conceiving baby girl or boy.

The Shettle Method for Baby Gender Selection

The Shettles Method is based on the theory that:
- male (Y) sperm is more fragile that the female (X) sperm
- male (Y) sperm is more faster that the female (X) sperm
- acidic environment harms male (Y) sperm

To get baby boy:
- make love as close as the ovulation so that Y-sperm arrive first and achieve conception
- deeper penetration in order to deposit sperm at the least acidic area which is near to the uterus opening. Also recommended is rear entry.
- women need to achieve orgasm as they make vaginal environment more alkaline

To get baby girl:
- make love 2 ½ to 3 days before ovulation as X-sperm is slower to arrive at the target
- to abstain until 12 hours prior to ovulation to boost the sperm count which is supposedly to better favors male sperms
- immediately after the menstrual period ends, to make love frequently until 48 hours before ovulation
- shallow penetration with sperm deposited closer to the entrance as the area is more acidic and therefore inhibits the weaker Y sperm
- women to avoid having orgasm
- missionary position is advised or any shallow penetration to deposit sperm further from cervix entrance

The Jonas Method for Baby Gender

This method basically calculates the baby’s gender, risk factor (birth defects and metal retardation) and mum’s possibility of getting pregnant by the date and time of the mother’s birth date.

The method is founded on three principles:
1. Women’s fertility depends on recurrence of the sun and moon’s angle occurring at their own birth.
2. Baby gender is determined by the position of the moon at conception.
3. The viability of the fetus is affected by certain configuration of the nearer celestial bodies.

I’ve used the Jonas calculator and from my birth date and time – 1st June 1975 @ 10.00 am.. to get a baby girl, I should conceived 24 hours before 23 Aug 2008 (Risk factor 2.. yikes) 21 Oct 2008 (0 risk factor.. yes!) 18 Dec 2008 (Risk factor 3.. double yikes)

My Baby Gender Preference

For me, a boy or baby girl does not matter either way as long as they are healthy and happy. Of course, I only have one child now so I have two more chance to get it right. But why not? If I have a boy and a girl, the next babies would be bonuses whatever their gender may be.

For my case studies I have my sis-in-laws. One has 2 boys and another has three girls. The girls mum of course really wants a baby boy and is trying for another baby. I really wish she got her baby boy soon. So… no harm in trying these gender methods, I’d say.

The Choice Method for Baby Gender

Previously known as the Selnas Method, it uses the Polarity Cycle as discovered by a Cellular Biologist from France, Patrick Schoun.

The polarity cycle have some similarity as the menstrual cycle.

The theory stated: When the charges on ovum membrane are neutral, sperm carrying X or Y chromosome is able to penetrate the ovum, giving 50-50% chance of getting a boy or a girl.

For baby boys: negatively charged egg attracts Y sperms (XY)
For baby girls: positively charged egg attracts X sperms (XX)

* note: mum's ovum is X. dad's sperm is eithr X or Y

The polarity cycle is due to all gender are effected by “ionic factor” producing specific charges to ovum membrane and sperm. The factors include mum’s age, blood type and menstrual cycle will be forwarded to a laboratory in France for analysis and parents will be given the Choice Pregnancy Chart for dates or period optimal in getting a baby boy or girl.

There are 70 days / year for each polarity i.e. 70 days optimal dates for baby girls and 70 days for baby boys. The other 200 days are 50 – 50% chance of getting either a baby boy or baby girl. From their clinical test, the method resulted in 98.7% success rate.

Dry stuffs.. For me, this method is more suitable for those who are more serious on getting the specific type of baby gender. More cost involved but the success rate is really amazing!

Malay Baby Gender Tips

Firstly, I really love this picture of Kimi when he's a year plus of age.. chubby chubby! Just like me!

OK.. lets get back on track!

As we know, the males determines baby gender as they are the carrier for X and Y chromosome. Ladies only carry the X chromosome. So XX = girl and XY = boy. Therefore ladies, you can put the blame solely on the hubby on gender selection ha ha..

Y chromosome is supposedly more active and faster but expired quickly that X that is slower but live longer. Y is more durable in alkaline condition but X thrives in acidic condition.

So....

To get baby boys:
1) Acidic food such as citrus fruits, pineapples, mangoes, vinegar to be avoided 2 months before conceiving. Seafood, calcium and magnesium are encouraged.
2) Make love on or just after ovulation but not too often.
3) Providing alkaline environment by douching (sodium bicarbonate liquid – can be purchased from pharmacies) 2 hours before intercourse.

To get baby girls:
1) Consume acidic food such as citrus fruits, pineapples, mangoes, vinegar and gas drinks. Avoid seafood.
2) Make love before ovulation and only after 5 days of ovulation. And do it frequently.
3) Providing acidic environment by douching (very dilute lactycyd) 2 hours before intercourse.

* I do not prefer the douching by the way, but each of their own way, I supposed.

To get twins:

Under normal circumstances, apparently the probability of getting twins is 1/80 pregnancies. For those on clomiphene (a fertility hormone pill) the probability is between 5 – 10%. Those on fertility injection or IVF, the chances are 20-30%.

The Chinese with their thousand of year’s civilization should have something up their sleeves on predicting baby gender. Especially when they have a one child policy some years back, parents have preference for certain gender – mostly boys as of their culture boys are more valuable then girls. So the more humane ways on getting boys is gender prediction table.

For the Chinese, the age is calculated from our conception, for example, myself – I was born on June 1st, 1975, in June 2008, I will be 33 years old.

Therefore, to use this calendar, I must add on 9 months (or a year for my formation months in my mum’s womb) making me 34 years old.

So…. To get a girl, I should look at the pink squares at column no. 34, to get a girl, ideally I should conceived on February, April, May, July, August, September and October…

Think I’ll try in July, 4 months for me to adjust. I have a fondness for this method as one of my Chinese girlfriend use the table for her second baby. Come to think of it most of the Chinese couple do have pair of kids - a boy and a girl. Certainly food for thoughts!

To first start it all, well, we have to start preparing ourself - mentally and physically. Getting the body ready by starting on good nutrition and fitness level.

Mentally of course with the hubby and existing kid i.e. Kimi, is the money there for additional kid and what about intimite moment with hubby...

So start preparing.. brief the hubby, do marathon sessions he he he...

For me, I've subscribe to my reliable baby planner website like I did with Kimi.. My doc start giving me folic acid and calcium tablets.. well baby, here I come!!!
